Carrie Krueger is a supporting character in the animated series The Amazing World of Gumball.
She's a ghost at Elmore Jr. High in Miss Simian's class and the girlfriend of Darwin Watterson. She is also a close friend of Darwin's brother, Gumball Watterson.
She is voiced by Jessica McDonald.
What Makes Her a Shojo Heroine?[]
- Heroic/Honorable: She has done a number of heroic deeds throughout the series as one of its most honorable characters, such as helping exorcise Jealousy out of Gumball and eventually destroy it because of her supernatural knowledge, helping Gumball and Darwin save themselves and their sister from becoming ghosts forever or being sent to the Underworld, being willing to marry the monstrous Gargaroth and be his bride for eternity if it meant saving the world, as he would have destroyed it otherwise; assisting the other characters in staging a chaotic scenario so that Molly Collins will have an interesting story to tell and feel wanted, helping Gumball and Darwin defeat the Game Child, and offering sound advice for the other characters and being a good, supportive friend in general. Finally, she is the only admirable character in the series to not be On & Off and/or villainous.
- Kind/Gentle: She seems to be emotionless in front of everyone with an occasionally apathetic attitude, but in front of her boyfriend, Darwin, she is gentle and caring. She is also kind with her other friends, such as Gumball.
- Bubbly: She is seen repeatedly talking and/or interacting with other characters, and also routinely enjoys going on dates with Darwin.
- Compassionate: She is very soft-spoken and compassionate, as she seemed genuinely concerned for Gumball and Darwin's safety when the two got turned into ghosts, and she was visibly upset when she thought they had been trapped in the underworld.
- Has a Crush on Someone: She develops a crush on Darwin, and the two eventually start dating each other.
- Optimistic: She occasionally behaves rather cheerfully for an undead, but still she has her moments as a more stereotypical goth. She is also a social floater who will talk to anyone unlike most emo kids who usually only hang out with other emos, and despite her enjoyment of being miserable (although she considered and once referred to herself as a 'punk rock chick' in "The Pony").
- Innocent: She sometimes displays jerkish, mischievous, and sometimes selfish behavior, but this is not consistent enough to make her on & off and her alignment is good at all times, unlike most of the other characters who have corrupting qualities that make them inconsistent in their behavior. She also has a single antagonistic role in "The Ghost" but she subverts it.
- Sensitive: She gets horrified by exaggeratedly cute or cheerful displays.
- Idealistic: She is shown to idealize on her relationships with other people, standing up to what she believes is right, and her concern for the well-being of her loved ones.
- Determined: She was determined to free her father from an eternal curse and save Gumball's family, and was willing to sacrifice herself by marrying Gargaroth in order to prevent him from destroying the entire world.
- Romantic: At first, she appears to be quite shy when talking to Darwin, whom she developed a crush on, but over time she somewhat overcomes this and is able to be more honest about her feelings for him.
- Youthful: As a ghost girl, she regularly interacts with other girls and usually participates in Gumball and the rest of the class's antics and is frequently very snarky, sarcastic, and deadpan at times, and can even be jerkish and mischievous.
- Believes in the Power of Friendship/Love: She genuinely cares for Gumball and Darwin, being willing to sacrifice herself for them, and enjoys going on dates with Darwin. She also loves her father, as shown when she was overjoyed to reunite with him after freeing him from an eternal curse.
- Insecure: She was unable to ask Darwin if she could borrow his body and if he wanted to do something together without blushing hugely or sounding sheepish and nervous, but eventually she is able to be more honest and open about her feelings for him, leading to them beginning to date each other.
- Magical: Being a ghost, she can traverse to the underworld, open portals, cast spells, possess bodies, move objects with her mind, move through solid objects, among other ghostly powers.
- Is a Cutie: She has a cute appearance, and is undoubtedly one of the cutest characters in the entire series.
- Age 10-16: Although she is 327 years old as a ghost, she is biologically 12.
