Ichigo Momomiya (桃宮いちご, Zoey Hanson in the 4Kids dub) is the main protagonist of the Tokyo Mew Mew franchise (Mew Mew Power in the 4Kids dub). She is a teenage girl who had her DNA merged with that of an Iriomote WildCat which allowed her to transform into a magical girl known as a Mew Mew to protect the Earth from hostile aliens known as Chimera Animas.
What Makes Her A Shojo Heroine?[]
- Heroic/Honorable: She's the main heroine of the series and she spends most of the series in a quest to save the Earth from the Chimera Animas.
- Bubbly: She's usually a very perky young girl who's hard to make upset.
- Compassionate: She's always there to comfort the other Mews whenever they're in a state of despair or stress.
- Clumsy: She can be quite a klutz at times.
- Has a Crush on Someone: Specifically Masaya Aoyama, even temporarily sacrificing herself to save him in the finale.
- Optimistic: The only time she ever truly falls into complete despair is when Masaya became Deep Blue.
- Believes in the Power of Friendship/Love: In order to save Masaya (now The Blue Knight) from Pie and Tart, Ichigo defeats the aliens using a new power manifested from her love for him (though Quiche suspects where Ichigo got this new power from was also partially from some of The Blue Knight's power being transferred into her rather than her love for him alone).
- Has a Sweet Tooth: She works in a cafe that mainly serves sweets and is seen several times eating and/or preparing them herself.
- Wears Bright Colors: Her Mew Mew outfit is a bubblegum pink dress.
- Pigtails/Bob-Cuts/Long-Hair: She wears her hair in a short bob-like style.
- Unnatural Hair Color: While usually a redhead, her hair turns pink whenever she transforms into Mew Mew Ichigo.
- Insecure: When it comes to her crush on Masaya, she thinks he's such a great person that a girl like her doesn't deserve him.
