Juvia Lockser is a major supporting protagonist in the Fairy Tail franchise. She is a member of the Fairy Tail guild and a former member of Phantom Lord (specifically being one of the Elemental 4) who specializes in water magic. She's also the love interest of Gray Fullbuster.
She is voiced by Mai Nakahara in the Japanese version of the anime, and by Brina Palencia in the English version.
What Makes Her a Shojo Heroine?[]
- Heroic/Honorable: Juvia who redeemed herself and joined Fairy Tail, even suggesting Gajeel Reedfox do the same after Phantom Lord disbanded. She showing highly cares about those she cares about, helping Fairy Tail many times, and sacrificing her life to save Gray's life while she was dying.
- Kind/Gentle: Juvia Lockser is eccentric and polite, even when she's on the opposite side. For example, when she captures Lucy, she ensures not to harm her and speaks kindly throughout. Even as she fights Gray, she maintains her courteous demeanor, offering to negotiate with her former master, Jose, to call off the attack if Fairy Tail returns Lucy.
- She and Gajeel are both former members of Phantom Lord, wherin they where both S Class members. Although their friendship is not deeply explored, it has been shown that they both have faith in each other's abilities through the series, with Juvia even enjoying Gajeel's singing and the latter calling her "Rain Woman".
- Bubbly: Juvia tends to be sweet, bubbly, and outgoing.
- Compassionate: Juvia shows compassion, as seen in her care for her Fairy Tail guildmates, sheping her deep loyalty and concern for her friends like Gajeel, Gray and Lucy, even after initial rivalries.
- Clumsy: In several times, Juvia has a tendency of being clumsy.
- Socially Awkward: Her awkwardness is visible in her tendency to overthink social situations, jump to conclusions, refer to herself in the third person, and feel embarrassed about her body.
- Naive/Absent-Minded: While far from emotionally unintelligent, Juvia often displays exaggerated, childlike behavior, especially when it comes to her love for Gray. She frequently daydreams, pouts, jumps to wild conclusions, and throws dramatic tantrums over imagined romantic rivals. Though tends to refer to herself in third person, and often says "drip, drip, drop" due to the rain she used to constantly bring everywhere with her.
- Has a Crush on Someone: Juvia developed romantic feelings for Gray upon first meeting him.
- Optimistic: One of Juvia's defining traits is her kindness. Once she joins Fairy Tail, Juvia turns out to be one of the nicest characters in the entire series. She is very helpful, kind, and protective of her new guild mates, and tries to make an honest effort to earn Gray’s affections.
- Juvia comes across as eccentric and polite, even when she's on the opposite side. When she captures Lucy, she ensures not to harm her and speaks kindly throughout.
- Sensitive: Juvia is often portrayed as very feminine and emotionally expressive, especially when it comes to her feelings for Gray.
- Idealistic: Having spent most of her adolescence being rejected by any male suitors, she dedicates much of her time trying to win Gray's affections, and becomes distraught whenever he doesn't show any interest in her.
- Determined: When Gray orders her to do something, not even a completely useless wounded leg will prevent Juvia from drag herself in a disquieting way in pursuit of a little girl and reaching her.
- Romantic: Gray and Juvia first met as enemies during the Phantom Lord arc. During their fight, Gray froze Juvia's body, but during his attempt to apologize, he accidentally touched her breast, leading to his embarrassment and Juvia's initial perception of him as uncaring. However, after Gray defeated Juvia, she was moved by the clear sky and her newfound feelings of love for him.
- Youthful: As a seventeen-years old teenage girl, she has the personality of an overexcited and energy reminiscent.
- Believes in the Power of Friendship/Love: Despite her past affiliations with Phantom Lord, Juvia is readily accepted into Fairy Tail and forms strong friendships, showcasing the guild's spirit of forgiveness and second chances.
- Possesses Plot Armor: While Juvia may not be a "death seeker" like other members of Fairy Tail (especially Natsu, Gray, Erza, and others), but she frequently places herself in harm’s way to protect others. Such as when in one notable moment, where she chooses to attack a Lacrima, fully aware it will cause her significant harm, to prevent Cana from being hurt.
- She also is immune to physical damage and certain spells when her body is turned into water.
- Has a Sweet Tooth: Juvia's favorite food is sweet things and enjoying strawberry cake.
- Wears Bright Colors: Despite having a dark blue outfit, Juvia is wearing a Russian-style hat with a light-colored butterfly clip is a distinctive feature.
- Pigtails/Bob-Cuts/Buns/Long-Hair: Originally she wore it even longer and curly, but in the series she adopted a straighter, wavier cut, although she returned to her curly style after learning of her Edolas counterpart's crush on Gray.
- Unnatural Hair Color: Blue.
- Insecure: Growing up, Juvia was shunned by others because she perpetually caused it to rain around her, this led to a deep-seated loneliness and a lack of experience in forming friendships.

She's often portrayed as soft-spoken, romantic, and very dreamy, which adds to her charm. In many comedic or fantasy sequences, she's drawn in chibi form to emphasize her cuteness and childlike enthusiasm.
- Short-Tempered: While she is usually a nice girl, Juvia has been known to get very angry at times, such as typically unleashed by the any sort of threats made towards Gray, easily allows her to overcome any obstacle she'd normally be unable to overcome.
