Maddie is the main protagonist of the Back to the Outback. She is a big-hearted, caring and very sensitive Inland Taipan snake who lived in the Sydney zoo where she was always presented as a vile creature to humans until she got tired of being treated like a monster and then ran away with her friends discriminated against for the Outback in an attempt to reunite with their families.
She is voiced by Isla Fisher.
What Makes Her a Shojo Heroine?[]
- Heroic/Honorable: She rescues her friends Frank, Zoe and Nigel from Chaz Hunt, while being reunited with Pretty Boy and driving the stolen fire truck. At the end of the battle, when Chaz's son Chazzie was about to fall into the cliff from a ladder of the truck, she helps Chaz save his son in spite of him chasing and trying to capture and kill her.
- Kind/Gentle: She wants to be friends with all animals and humanity (first by trying to get attention and love she deserves).
- Compassionate: Maddie deeply cares for her friends and doesn't want to hurt anyone. While she may scare off others, it's only to save her friends.
- Socially Awkward: While talking with USS members about her venom, feels awkward, as she doesn't take pride of being venomous.
- Optimistic: Looks at most of issues positively and tries to cheer up anyone, who needs help.
- Believes in the Power of Friendship: Deeply cares about her friends. Even Pretty Boy, who hated her for nothing but because she is a snake. There is no denial, why Pretty Boy would later redeem himself and give his hand of help to her (to save friends, when she failed to ask help from outback inhabitants and almost gave up).
- Unnatural Hair Color: Unlike real-life taipans, she has beautiful blue skin. (may count)
- Is a Crybaby: When something horrible happens (like abuse or loss) to her or friends, Maddie often cries.
