Marcy Wu is the major protagonist of the Disney Channel animated series Amphibia and the titular main protagonist of the tie-in book Marcy's Journal: A Guide to Amphibia.
She was voiced by Haley Tju.
What Makes Her a Shojo Heroine?[]
- Heroic/Honorable: Though Marcy Wu is technically the one who kick-started the whole series’ events by sending herself, Anne and Sasha to Amphibia against their wishes, Marcy Wu's motivation to do so is the desire not to be separated from Anne and Sasha, two of her best friends and she feels extremely sorry for her actions after Anne and Sasha are not happy with her decision. Marcy Wu is still the heroic and honorable person as she devotes to protect Newtopia, helps Anne and Sasha to push the Core's Final Gambit back to prevent it from destroy the whole Amphibia.
- Kind/Gentle: Marcy Wu is consistently kind to other people. For example, Marcy Wu quickly becomes friendly to the Plantars despite Sprig's initial distrust, and Marcy Wu is the only one who bids farewell to Andrias despite Andrias betrayed her and impaled her before.
- Bubbly: Marcy Wu is consistently shown that she is energetic and frequently fails to notice that others are not interested in her interests.
- Clumsy: Marcy Wu is noticeably clumsy, such as accidentally getting her cape in fire several times in "Marcy at the Gates".
- Socially Awkward: Marcy Wu initially had difficulty in making friends back in Earth and viewed Anne and Sasha as her only two friends, though she does make friends in Amphibia, such as Maddie.
- Naive/Absent-Minded: Despite Marcy Wu is book-smart, Marcy Wu has been easily believed others.
- Believes in the Power of Friendship: Marcy Wu treasures her friendship with Anne and Sasha, to the extent that she sends herself, Anne and Sasha to Amphibia against their wishes after knowing that her family would move to another state. When Marcy Wu's mind is trapped inside the Core's mindscope, it is her friendship with Anne and Sasha making her realize that the world the Core created is not real and resist to the Core's attempt to fully erase her mind.
- Insecure: Marcy Wu initially feels that she is not good at making friends similar to Anne and Sasha, and she initially fears losing Anne and Sasha, two of her best friends.
