We are not ready, and we are not gonna lose... maybe.
~ Nguyen standing up to the Ivy Rangers.

Nguyen is a major character of the We Bare Bears franchise, being a supporting character in the 2015 Cartoon Network original series of the same name, and its 2020 series finale film adaption, We Bare Bears: The Movie.

As the tallest and most experienced member of the Poppies, Nguyen is the second-in-command of the Poppy Rangers, and like her fellow Poppies, Nguyen is a brave and adventurous little girl scout/park ranger and troop who has a close friendship with Ranger Tabes and the three bears, more especially Grizzly Bear. Nguyen shows high commitment to her aforementioned fellow Poppy Rangers, but Nguyen is more silent and confident, yet more wise and mature than the other Poppy Rangers, like Parker. Additionally, Nguyen has more hyperawareness than the other Poppies. Outside of her career as a park ranger like Ranger Tabes, Nguyen is typically seen casually playing with the other Poppy Rangers and having fun, more especially by having tissue and pillow fights with the other Poppy Rangers, and/or flying kites with them.

Ngyuen is voiced by Audrey Huynh, who also voices Stella Cho from XO, Kitty, Kim Jun-hee in the English dub of Squid Game, and the Namashitas from The Boss Baby: Back in Business.

What Makes Her A Shojo Hero?[]

  • Heroic/Honorable: Nguyen works with the other Poppies as a heroic team in We Bare Bears in several scenarios, such as saving Wallace from the Hurricane Hal, and assisting Grizz, Panda and Ice Bear into defeating Agent Trout, their arch-nemesis, leading to the latter's deserved incarceration and getting his public reputation and image permanently and ultimately destroyed for unlawfully imprisoning and torturing the bears. Additionally, Nguyen and the Poppies have defeated their arch-rivals, the Ivy Rangers, in the annual Peewee Ranger Games, who were known for their disrespectful, juvenile, abusive and spoiled behavior and even xenophobic behavior towards Grizz.
  • Kind/Gentle: Nguyen is very kind and affable to whoever they meet and/or interact with, especially to Grizz, whom she affectionately calls him, "Bear Guy," and Ranger Tabes, whom she often calls her "sir," and always follow Tabes and Grizz's commands regardless of the severity of danger that awaits from them.
  • Bubbly: Nguyen is extremely bubbly, shown when she and the Poppies take legitimate enjoyment of Grizz getting attacked by bats while embarking through the Howling Mountain Cave, Wallace and the Poppies investigate Grizz's supplies out of both enthusiasm and interest, Nguyen and the Poppies sprint out of the Ranger Station in excitement to fly their kites before the Hurricane Hal strikes, and after the Hurricane Hal strikes, Nguyen has fun with the Poppies in the Ranger Station by having a tissue/pillow fight with each other, but Nguyen isn't necessarily hyperactive.
  • Optimistic: Nguyen is a relentlessly optimistic kid who is always happy to help and reassure other people if required. Even during the most dangerous and darkest moments, Wallace still attempts to find a way out of it and offer other people hope, such as reassuring Ranger Tabes that she is still an excellent forest ranger, saying that she would "lose her other eye for her," despite getting the Poppies, Grizz and herself stranded in the Howling Mountain Cave and offering Grizz a positive influence by cheerleading for him in the Peewee Ranger Games in order to motivate himself from his lack of skill in kickball to defeat the Ivy Rangers and Ranger Zhao.
  • Determined: Wallace is determined to help other people or save those from danger. In her character portrait, it directly describes Nguyen as "quiet and confident."
  • Youthful: Being a kid, Nguyen has a zest for living life to the fullest by going on exciting adventures, exploration and doing whatever she wants, as long as if it does not cause harm.
  • Idealistic: Nguyen believes that the power of teamwork with the other Poppies is powerful enough to take down any threats, which is no wonder she has a pure bond with the other Poppies. Additionally, Nguyen and the Poppies plan on how to motivate Grizz from his lack of kickball skill in the Peewee Ranger Games to defeat the Ivy Rangers, that is through cheerleading.
  • Believes in the Power of Friendship: Nguyen is best friends with not only the Poppies, but is close friends with her superior commander, Ranger Tabes, and the three bears, more especially Grizzly. No matter how much trouble and danger Grizz and Tabes got themselves and the Poppies into (along with Nguyen herself), Nguyen still desires to continue bonding with them and motivate them, especially in the darkest and most unpleasant moments.
  • Has a Sweet Tooth: Nguyen likes eating pizza, and once starvation took over them in Lord of the Poppies, Nguyen attempts to crave on eating Grizz as she hallucinates the latter as a delicious hamburger.
  • Short-Tempered: Nguyen is quick to anger, such as when Grizz's incompetence hits Nguyen and the Poppies' patience (shown when Grizz foils the final and remaining chance to find food, Nguyen lashes out at Grizz for doing so) and when Nguyen argues with the Poppies. In Lord of the Poppies, Nguyen and the Poppies have a heated and toxic quarrel with each other that outright escalates into a brutal Ranger War.
  • Is a Cutie: Nguyen is extremely cute, among the cutest characters in the We Bare Bears franchise, being almost young and adorable as the Baby Bears.
