Penny Proud is the main protagonist of The Proud Family franchise. She is voiced by Kyla Pratt.
What Makes Her a Shojo Heroine?[]
- Heroic/Honorable: Penny risks her life to save LaCienega from being launched into outer space by the Gross Sisters' trap despite initially being bitter enemies with the latter. She also helped Suga Mama put an end to slavery at a senior citizens' home.
- Kind/Gentle: Despite her moments of selfishness, Penny is an easygoing person and treats everyone around with genuine respect.
- Bubbly: Penny has her moments of being cheery and energetic.
- Compassionate: Penny shows compassion to people when everyone else mocks someone that is considered an outcast.
- Has a Crush on Someone: Penny has numerous crushes throughout the series, going as far as officially being in a relationship with Kareem.
- Optimistic: While she can fall into depression at times, Penny manages to regain her positive attitude and value the good in her life.
- Believes in the Power of Friendship/Love: Penny remains loyal to her friends despite being betrayed by them numerous times. Penny loves her family very much, even if she gets annoyed with them at times.
- Possesses Plot Armor: Penny manages to only get injured after being launched into outer space by the Gross Sisters' trap.
- Wears Bright Colors: Much of her typical outfit is pink and white.
- Pigtails: Penny wears her hair in pigtails.
