Sakura Kinomoto is the titular main protagonist of the Cardcaptor Sakura franchise.

She is voiced by Sakura Tange in the original Japanese version. In the English dub of the series and first movie, she is voiced by by Carly McKillip, Kari Wahlgren in the second movie and Monica Rial in the Clear Card Arc.

What Makes Her a Shojo Heroine?[]

  • Heroic/Honorable: After accidentally releasing the Clow Cards, she sets out to re-capture them. And whenever any of the cards cause any sort of havoc across town, she shows up to stop and seal them.
  • Kind/Gentle: In spite of the Nothing Card erasing almost everything she loved from existence, Sakura still forgave her and offered her the friendship she had been yearning for. Which caused her to fuse with the Nameless Card and become the Hope Card, effectively undoing all the devastation and destruction she had caused prior.
  • Bubbly: She's a very cheerful and upbeat young girl most of the time.
  • Compassionate: Once she realized how Touya had been trying to protect her all along because he had secretly always known about the Clow Cards, she was driven to tears out of sheer remorse and strove to treat him more compassionately to make up for how she had previously treated him.
  • Has a Crush on Someone: While she and Syaoran initially disliked each other, she soon developed a crush on him that eventually developed into genuine love for one another.
  • Optimistic: She has an overall cheerful and perky personality, always looking to the bright side in any scenario and maintaining her positive outlook on most things even when things get bleak.
  • Believes in the Power of Friendship/Love: Much of the story is built on the love between her and Syaoran. For example, when Syaoran moved back to Hong Kong, Sakura's feelings of sadness over him leaving were what created The Nameless Card (which later fused with the Nothing Card to form the Hope card, effectively being what allowed The Nothing Card's actions to be undone and Sakura and Syaoran to reunite at the end of the second movie).
  • Wears Bright Colors: She has a variety of unique and vibrant outfits provided to her by Tomoyo for card-catching.
